MMC Response to Global Conflicts

The Manitoba Multifaith Council is dedicated to bringing Manitoba’s diverse faith communities together in a spirit of mutual respect, understanding, and commitment to the common good.

Through dialogue, education, community engagement, and service, we create opportunities for people of different faith traditions to build relationships and work together to address the challenges facing our neighbours, including poverty, homelessness, food insecurity, mental health, addiction, and public safety. We believe our greatest contribution is made when we move beyond dialogue to serve together.

We acknowledge and lament the suffering and cruelty occurring throughout the world, including that caused by conflict, religious intolerance, persecution, and hatred. We also recognize that these events affect communities here in Manitoba, sometimes creating grief, fear, anger, and division among neighbours.

Because our membership represents diverse perspectives and experiences, the Council does not take positions on international geopolitical matters. This does not diminish our concern for those who suffer. Rather, we choose to focus our efforts where we can make a meaningful difference: fostering understanding, overcoming division, and bringing people together in service here at home.

We believe healing often begins in serving one another. By recognizing our shared humanity and working together with compassion, respect, tolerance, and forgiveness, we can strengthen the relationships that unite us and help build a more caring and peaceful Manitoba.
